From The Foresters
After years of pursuing solo careers, friends Nicholas Petersen and Tim Wildsmith found themselves collaborating on new songs in the fall of 2010. A few months of weekly writing sessions later, they had an album's worth of material, and so in the spring of 2011 they released their self-titled debut under the name The Foresters.
"The name came from this idea we had that writing songs is kind of like planting trees," Tim says. "Once you've planted them, they grow and give life to the world around them. They live on long after you."
Recorded over just three days in Omaha, that first collection of songs was simple and organic in every way.
“We didn’t want it to sound too perfect,” Petersen explains when describing why they kept several first takes and avoided endless overdubs. “We wanted it to sound like us.”
Wildsmith relocated to Nashville later that year, but their songwriting partnership continued, and in the summer of 2013 they convened in Albuquerque to record "Volume Two."
“I love these songs... I love Nicholas.... and I love that we get to do this together,” Tim says.
“We’re having a lot of fun,” Nicholas adds. “We hope people are blessed by it.”
