Norisha Campbell was born in Lakeland, Florida (USA) in 1980. At the age of 4, Campbell started singing gospel in the children’s choir at church. Her first solo performance in the church was “I get joy.” As a child Norisha’s mother continued to teach her to sing and encouraged her to sing more.

Norisha spent some of her teenage years travelling to different churches where her mother was singing and speaking, and she would occasionally get on the stage and sing with her. Norisha’s mother would also speak on the streets in the poor communities and took her along and encouraged her to sing on the streets to touch the hearts and lives of the poor.

Norisha was exposed to the music of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Anita Baker, Shirley Ceasar, Yolanda Adams, and Tramaine Hawkins - most of whom would have influence on her as a singer and performer.
