Megan Barker is an accomplished singer and songwriter from Nashville, TN by way of Las Vegas, NV. Born into the music industry, her father, Bobby P. Barker, wrote songs for country legends such as Ronnie Milsap and Barbara Mandrell. Her mother, Barbara Smith-Barker was also an artist and session singer. Megan spent her childhood in studios and writing sessions where she learned at an early age how to craft a lyrical narrative.
At 13 years old and inspired by pop legend John Mayer, Megan picked up a guitar and never put it down. She started her career singing at local Las Vegas venues where her unique, prolific songwriting and contagious melodies helped her to work her way up to playing bigger venues including First Friday, House of Blues Las Vegas and the Hard Rock Café. Megan has been described as “a cross between Lisa Loeb and Taylor Swift” by Vegas Seven Magazine. In addition to local radio, TV and Internet broadcasts, Megan worked her way up to opening concerts for great country acts such as Montgomery Gentry, Lee Brice, Eli Young Band and Juice Newton.
Working with award winning talents, Megan's songs draw a diverse demographic audience from young children to mature adults. Her fan base currently includes tens of thousands of followers across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. When asked about the diverse range of her fans ages she says, "There is nothing I love more than moving people with a song. The fact that little kids and grown adults come up and praise my songwriting after a show is amazing to me. That's enough to keep me going forever. I'm honored."
In October, 2013 Megan recorded her song “Doormat” on the Songs Against Domestic Abuse Compilation Album for the Safe Nest Foundation of Las Vegas. She then performed her song at the live show at the Aliante Casino in Las Vegas.
At present, Megan works closely with the legendary Studio 19 in Nashville where she records her new music with some of the region’s best talent.
