Volume II, the second release from Minneapolis band Hope Hymns, is another album full of retuned hymns. This time around, the band chose not to do any covers. With the exception of track one, all of the melodies are original, as are the arrangements on all of the tracks.
Ultimately, this is music written by the church and for the church. But these aren't your grandmother's hymns. The sonic landscape of the album keeps mostly to the indie rock genre, with influences from bands like The National, Sufjan Stevens, and Local Natives emerging at different points on the record.
