For the last few years Lucy-Jayne and I have been hopping around the world writing songs and playing them for whoever would listen, including all of you who have downloaded from Noisetrade. If you've followed us at all over the past year, you've probably heard that we've been working hard on our first full-length studio project, "Anchors Aweigh", and I'm thrilled to announce that It's almost here! We plan to release it at the end of March (yes, next month!). In celebration of this milestone, we figured it would be a good Idea to record acoustic versions of a couple of the songs on the Album that we are really excited about and give them to you guys, after all, you're the reason we're able to do this in the first place :)
We plan to release "story behind the song" videos for these in the near future, but here's a little bit about them:
Never leave or Forsake us - This is one of our favorites simply because of all the cool situations we've played this song in! I wrote this song in order to catch peoples attention on a busy street because at the time I was doing a lot of street performing and people didn't seem to stop and listen unless I was either playing an upbeat song and/or rapping.....so I tried to incorporate a hint of both in there, while still remaining true to the reason I wanted people to stop and listen in the first place. This song has been played on street corners all across Turkey, England, Switzerland and even a couple of prisons in Central Asia!
Clarity - This song is very much a part our story as a couple and takes a lot of explaining, but the short version is this: Lucy-Jayne and I were in the same traveling performance arts group and this group had very strict rules about dating. I was very much smitten with her but I wasn't allowed to show it and neither was she, which made the normal process very difficult! While this song can relate to many situations in which clarity is desired, I wrote this simply because I wanted to know if she had the same feelings I did........Of course, it worked out in the end because now we're married! I hope you enjoy both of these songs!
