The California EP takes its name, not from the Sunshine State, but from a small village-come caravan park, near Dolan Springs’ home town in Norfolk. Gold coins found on the beach in 1848 caused a frenzy so, inspired by the Californian Gold Rush in 1848, the village of California took its name. Nowadays, it’s mostly inhabited by caravans and holiday homes perched on deteriorating cliffs being reclaimed by the sea.
The combination of American ideals smeared with a British outlook, sums up Dolan Springs and the California EP just nicely.
