The Northstar Session
Late Bloomer
Los Angeles, CA / Rock : Pop
About
It's all about the songs and harmony. This trio came together much like any other - three guys who wrote well together, but these three wanted to bring back harmony and songwriting to rock music. Matt Szlachetka began writing songs with Kane McGee in 2007, after meeting on a recording session for another artist. When they began to like what was coming out of their writing, they met Dave Basaraba through mutual friends and asked him to join keyboards. The sessions went so well that they decided to form a band and see where they could take these songs live. The band would become the Northstar Session, based on their shared belief that music has always been each player's "True North," and that as session musicians they had begun to hone their craft and find their own personal sound to bring to the collective mix. By 2012, they had played over 500 shows, touring 3 weeks out of every month since 2010, when they released their third full-length record, Late Bloomer.
