I wonder what it is that Paul Adams doesn't do? He's built instruments for well known musicians including Daryl Hall and members of Stevie Wonder's band ; is a writer, poet, plays a vast array of exotic instruments and has eleven critically acclaimed albums in five genres of music. Adams is no stranger to collaboration either, in 2015 producing and recording The Bridge with Australian singer songwriter Elizabeth Geyer. AND they both grouped with renowned Indian flautist Pravin Godkhindi and David Hoffman (Arranger Ray Charles) resulting in the album IMAGININGS which won best contemporary instrumental album of 2016 at the Zone Music Awards in New Orleans. And last but not least, The Neurons - Paul’s ongoing project with David Hoffman. Paul explains, “The Neurons has been a chance to utilize my instruments in a jazzier way, blending world music and grooves. “From time to time I find music unique and original. A pathfinder. Music that realizes new ideas, instruments and styles. That's Dance by THE NEURONS ” SMOOTH & SOULMagazine Germany His first album Various Waves was placed in the top five OF THE YEAR IN 1990. This was followed by his world music outing Wonder Dancing on Global bop and later 1995’s A View From The Plain. An astounding portrait of the prairie using finger style guitar. The Property of Water was an exercise in Ambience using electronic music pioner Laurie Spiegal’s Music Mouse for computer. Adams says ”I was beyond pleased that Laurie loved what I did with this album.” It was Paul’s interest in incorporating the Native American Flute and it’s calming effect that lead to his albums Flute Meditations for Dreaming Clouds and Heavens. Both were nominated “best of” the year at the Zone Music Awards, and his following album Sleep winning in that category in 2013. But In The Land Where I Come From is perhaps Adams' most “daring” album to date, crossing boundaries of the best in Jazz, Pop, and World influences, venturing even into groove and poetry. A recent collaboration was producing Australian Elizabeth Geyer’s fourth album The Bridge. With support from Bruce Lundvall (Past president of Blue Note Records and responsible for signing such artists as Nora Jones and James Taylor), this was Geyer’s turn around album from top flight jazz artist to singer/songwriter where she could transition to story teller.
