Raised in Southern California, Michelle is the second of seven siblings in an active and loving family. Her music inspiration started early by listening to her uncle play his original compositions.
Michelle’s began piano lessons at age seven, and then teaching lessons to other children by age thirteen. Being home-educated gave her a good academic foundation while allowing her the freedom to develop her musical talent. She attended California State University in Northridge, known for its acclaimed music department, and graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance.
Since graduating, Michelle has enjoyed traveling and also using her music by composing, arranging, and she has performed in California, Mexico and Colombia. In 2015 Michelle married the love of her life, Carlan Wendler, an ER doctor, and in Summer 2016 they will leave the US for medical missions work in Burundi, Africa. Carlan will be working with a team of US and Burundian doctors who will be teaching medical students from Hope Africa University at their rural teaching hospital in Kibuye, Burundi. Michelle will teach piano and English and one day hopes to open a music school for community. For more information on their team, check out the team's blog:
