From Lara Johnston
Lara Johnston is asinger-songwriter whose powerful voice, dynamic stage presence, and soulful pop songs have captivated worldwide music audiences. She has toured extensively, both as a solo artist and as a backing vocalist for artists like Don Henley and Belinda Carlisle. In the past few years, Lara has opened for KISS, Heart, and Willie Nelson. She also recently made appearances on The Wendy Williams Show and Piers Morgan Tonight, duetting with America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.
Lara was the first-ever Grand Prize winner of the Unsigned Only Competition, with her song “K.I.S.S.,” which also went on to win first place in the International Songwriting Competition’s Adult Contemporary division. While pursuing her career, Lara studied her craft at USC’s Thornton School of Music, where she graduated from the Popular Music Program. Lara enjoyed a residency at legendary NYC rock club The Bitter End, sung at the Kennedy Center as part of the American Voices festival, and performed at the Sundance Film Festival. Recently, Lara has been writing music for various projects, including television shows and her own forthcoming release.
