…And that is just a snapshot taken over a few years from the artistic life of West Ham United fanatic and urban music’s stellar young talent…. Guvna B.
Added to making such dynamic strides, Guvna B at twenty four years of age, has four independent albums, the most recent of which shot into the Official Christian & Gospel charts at number 1, and the Official mainstream UK Urban chart at number 22. ‘Odd 1 Out’ which is the title of the history making record, was the first ever rap album to top the Official Christian & Gospel UK chart, and cemented Guvna B as the UK’s highest selling Urban Christian artist.
Guvna B, a University of Hertfordshire Graduate, has an artistry that is current and relevant to today’s world and consistently at the cutting edge of what will be the future for music. In creating output, Guvna B draws from his personal experiences and observations made living in and around the gritty and fast-pace streets of London. His music addresses such life issues, not through romanticising negative values or pretending hardship doesn’t exist, but by offering reasoning with an insight based upon his own profound Christian faith.
In his work this remains self-evident as Guvna B continues to consistently deliver well-crafted, conscious music. Music that is powerful enough to neutralise and banish so much of the negativity that has plagued this world for years.
A courage and boldness not to follow the stereotypical trends of urban music today has led to many doors opening for Guvna B. This has allowed him to share his views on his faith and society. In doing so, he has retained the essential ability to make excellent music. A talent that has been acknowledged not only by the growing legions of fans, but by broadcast media stations such as BBC, Sky News, Choice FM, and Premier Christian Radio that are constantly airing his songs and his story.
Guvna B’s journey so far has seen a lot being achieved within a short space of time. At age 20, Guvna B won the prestigious MOBO Award. He has worked with highly acclaimed artists such as Hillsong, Jahmene Douglas, Jocelyn Brown, Tim Hughes, LZ7, Canton Jones, Keisha Buchanan, Noel Robinson and more. He has shared stages with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Matt Redman, and Lecrae plus his story was shared with many in March 2013 when he appeared in nationwide music magazine 'Music Week'. He is also the owner of ‘Allo Mate’, which is an urban clothing brand he created in January 2013.
Guvna B is a well-rounded artist who not only makes good music; he makes good music of substance based around relevant content. Guvna B’s stage presence is proven. His performances along with full band and DJ have been witnessed by thousands all over the world and in venues such as Wembley Stadium and the 02 Arena.
Guvna B was born in London, England on 13th June 1989, and has origins in Accra, Ghana. Regarding his London upbringing, Guvna B states, “My upbringing helped me find my faith in Jesus. The negative things I saw in my society inspired me to do better and inspire people to be the best they can be instead of becoming stereotypical products of a negative environment”
