A hard-hitting Southern Death Metal unit in the vein of The Black Dahlia Murder, Necrophagist, and Suffocation, South Carolina based Garotte gives a fresh display of brutality with tech-heavy riffage, blended seamlessly with punishing slams, soaring leads, and chilling choruses. The name was is derived of a Torture Device used by the Spanish as a form of Capital Punishment by wire or chain, and was used to strangle the victim to death. Created in the summer of 2014 out of pure frustration of previous failed endeavors, Vocalist Korey Smith and Lead Guitarist Ellis Tolbert sought out to form a new band with a different sound than what's available in the area. Shortly after, the band released it's first single "First Born" in 2015. The band solidified it's lineup, adding Adam Bettinger on guitar, Nate Smith on drums, and Todd Honeycutt of Enfold Darkness on Bass. On March 2nd, 2016, the band self-released its debut EP, Quietus.
