From Brian Buchanan
Brian Buchanan; singer, songwriter and guitarist, is no stranger to country music. Growing up in a musical family, he started playing guitar and banjo early on in bluegrass and country groups with his grandparents. During high school, the music bug quickly spread and he was a member of several different groups, ultimately forming his own group with his brother, sister and friends called the Southern Country Band. The group went on to win awards at the East Coast Country Music Championship Talent Show, opened for main acts such as The Drifters and landed the house band spot on the Virginia Jr. Opry. The band also released a c.d. entitled My Turn To Run. After college, Brian performed regionally and most recently has made several appearances on the Virginia Dreams Center Stage T.V. show and the new Shenandoah Jamboree show. He cites the Statler Brothers, Faron Young, Don Williams, Ray Price, Marty Robbins, Rodney Crowell, and Buck Owens as major influences in his style and songwriting. His new c.d. project, Around The Bend is a mix of new original material and classic country songs, all deeply rooted in the traditional country style. Brian is excited about this new project and ready to see what God has in store for his future years.
