Barry was born and raised in Cullman, Alabama, and started playing guitar at 15. Michelle was born in Alberta, Canada, the daughter of folk artist Russell Thornberry. Barry and Michelle met in Texas in 1992 and were writing together within four months. Two solo acts became a duo in 1994, and 20 years later, they are still going strong in life and music.

Michelle's soaring voice and Barry's sublime guitar work truly are a match made in heaven. With six albums together, they have a fierce and loyal fan base. Their songwriting is delightfully disarming and their performances are carefully crafted and engaging. The chemistry is for real. Barry is a Dove Award-nominated producer and Barry and Michelle songs are routinely recorded by other artists all over the world. In April 2013, they released their favorite project to date, "Sun Comes Up Tomorrow," to let their Americana roots show.

The Pattersons live in Clearwater County, Alberta, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where they are raising four amazing artist children and a hound dog named Dolly.
